April 7, 2009: BPSOS-Houston is proud to welcome another key volunteer!
Mary Vu graduated from South Texas College of Law in May 2008 and became licensed to practice in Texas in November 2008. She attended the University of St. Thomas and graduated magna cum laude with a B.B.A. in Finance and a minor in International Studies. She has volunteered with BPSOS-Houston since March of this year.
“Although she’s only volunteered with us for a relatively short time, her caseload is rather impressive!” said Houston staff attorney An Phong Vo. “She’s working on a guardianship case, two family law cases, and a T-visa renewal application.”
“My interest in immigration and family law grew from previous clerkships held during law school, where I was able to interact with and assist clients from a variety of backgrounds reach their legal goals,” said Vu. “I am excited about volunteering with BPSOS because I am given to the opportunity to not only expand my legal abilities, but also to continue contributing back to the community.”
Volunteers are the lifeblood of a community organization like Boat People SOS. The BPSOS team is proud and grateful to have people as talented and dedicated as Mary Vu on board!
