Holmes Middle School has a vibrant Vietnamese Club where students share rich cultural traditions. Many of these students could benefit from having you tutor or mentor them!
April 6, 2009: Are you a college student who misses their youth and wants to reconnect by working with children? Do you want to give back to the community?
The Youth Program of BPSOS-Falls Church seeks volunteers to help mentor/tutor Asian students at Holmes Middle School in Fairfax County, VA, during Wednesday after-school programs from 2:45 – 4:15pm.
Tutoring subjects include math, science, and writing, but the program also incorporates creative lessons on nutrition and physical activity. The after-school program is meant to be a fun environment where students come together to learn.
Volunteers should be enthusiastic and eager, but also mature and able to work with students both individually and in small groups. Ideal volunteers would be a college students or graduates who are able to commit to volunteering on Wednesday afternoons.
While the students are primarily Asian, volunteers of any background are welcome. Travel reimbursements are also available.
