Thiện Nguyện Viên Mới – New Volunteers: BPSOS-Houston Welcomes Meha Bharathan, Pro Bono Attorney

mehaMarch 18, 2009: BPSOS-Houston is proud to welcome Meha Bharathan, who will be working as a pro bono attorney.

Bharathan, a May 2008 graduate of South Texas College of Law, became licensed in Texas in November 2008. She has lived in Houston most of her life and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston in 2000, with a business administration degree in finance and management. She has an interest in international law, as well as in the public interest or government arena, and enjoys serving clients who do not have the means to seek legal assistance.

“Serving as a pro bono attorney for Boat People SOS is providing a wide range of practical experiences,” said Bharathan. “In just one week, this has included meeting clients, performing intake, and drafting pleadings.”

“We’re very lucky to have such a bright and dedicated team of volunteers with us this semester, as we are swamped with our case load,” said BPSOS-Houston staff attorney An Phong Vo. “We’re grateful to Meha and her colleagues for dedicating their time, talents, and compassion to our cause and our clients.”
