Guests chat with staff and board members in the parlor of DC’s historic Tabard Inn.
October 24, 2008: Over 50 people crowded the warmly lit parlor of Washington, DC’s Tabard Inn last Thursday for a benefit that raised over $1,800 for BPSOS’ Hurricane Ike relief efforts.
The evening event, which was organized by the board of directors, was a time to mingle, enjoy good wine, and learn more about BPSOS. Distinguished guests shared their insights into the challenges facing humanitarian organizations in this new era, and longstanding leaders of BPSOS spoke on the commitment of our organization to taking action on issues such as hurricane relief.
The fundraiser was especially important given the stress put on the BPSOS-Houston office in the aftermath of Ike. The dedicated staff there has served over 1,300 clients and their families, connecting them with badly needed services, and continues to play a key role for the Vietnamese-American survivors.
All in all, a good time was had, and for a good cause – and contributions are still rolling in! We’re extremely grateful to everyone who came and contributed. Thank you, many times over! If you missed the event but wish to make a donation, please click on the hurricane icon to the right.
It’s never too early to start learning how to be a great Vietnamese American.
A mix of new friends and familiar faces makes the evening more interesting.
