July 11, 2008: The Community Development Department of Boat People SOS is proud to announce that we have three new staff joining the Road to Independence through Savings and Education (RISE) program this month: Hiển Hoàng, Thomas Nguyễn, and Linh Quách.
Hiển Hoàng (New Orleans) Program Coordinator
Hiển’s main responsibilities include recruiting hurricane survivors to set up an Individual Development Account (IDA) to build assets and rebuild their lives.
In addition, she organizes financial workshop to educate clients about money management. She will also conduct workshops to educate Vietnamese employees and employers about how to provide a safe and healthy workplace.
Thomas Nguyễn (Biloxi) Program Coodinator
Thomas’ main responsibilities include organizing a citizenship class to teach Vietnamese immigrants how to best study for the US citizen test. He will also be working on some of the same projects as Hiển, such as recruiting Katrina survivors for the Individual Development Account (IDA) program, setting up financial workshops, and teaching Vietnamese-American employees and employers how to create a safe and healthy workplace.
Linh Quách (Charlotte) Outreach Coordinator
Linh’s main responsibilities are to do outreach and promote our workplace safety program through promotional activities including workshops on healthy practices and preventive measures.
